1/100 00 Gundam
Big size... but no big deal at all...
Yeah, that's the pretext I have for this model...
OK, this is basically the 3rd 00 Gundam we've seen here in these 3 months since July 2009. Obviously, I love 00 Gundam.
The box...
The body...
The face...
OK, since this is already my 3rd 00 Gundam, I will keep this one short... I will high light 1 or 2 things about the difference between this 1/100 00 Gundam and the 1/144 HG 00 Gundam (Designer Color Ver.)
First on the elbow, wrist and knee part... the 1/144 HG is much better as Bandai provided the stickers to add more charms and details to it...
But for this 1/100 kit... there is no sticker what so ever for those parts... so it's something like this...
This how it looks like on the HG 1/144 kit (Designer Color Ver.) - pretty nice...
Another thing is that the articulation on the waist/torso part...
With the HG 1/144 kit you can even do the 360 degrees and thus enabled you to do many dynamic action pose.
But with the big guy (1/100 kit) that is not possible... this is the best it can do but in a way it may look more realistic this way - maybe?
OK, I'm not really excited to take many photos for this model... maybe (so far) I'm a little disappointed with it... but for goodness sake, I did some for you to see...
At least with the 1/100 kit you will get 2 beam saber part - which is not available if u buy the 1/144 HG kit...
OK, that's all for the action pose with the weapons... eventually I skip the shield part but I think you've seen that in my previous review which you can read in here. You can also see the Robot Tamashii 00 Gundam in here.
So this is the main highlight of this 1/100 kit and eventually the very reason why I or you would want to get it... the LED in the twin GN Drive on the shoulder...
Under bright lights... the LED effect is not really that great...
But at least in dark situation... you can enjoy it more...
The battery for the LED is the CR-1220 type, mine made by Panasonic - well most of them were made by Panasonic but I think maybe you can find other brand made by other manufacturer as well.. it's the same coin battery type that were used on 1/60 PG Strike Gundam... it cost me SGD 6.00 for each battery... not cheap...
There is a switch on both GN Drive parts... sliding type... my only complain is that sometimes it can be quite difficult to slide the switch... sometimes I can just use my finger but most of the times I rather use pen... much easier..
With this switch, you can turn the LED on and off... very nice...
So that's all about it... now a little bit more on the articulation part which I did not mention earlier... the articulation on the whole leg part is not that great... well, I am comparing it directly with the HG 1/144 kit and as you can see in this photo... the HG 1/144 kits is extremely flexible.
This is the maximum for the 1/100 kit
And this is the maximum for the HG 1/144 kit
And another photo to show you how important that leg articulation is... this is another reason why I'm a little disappointed with this big guy...
Overall, I personally believed the HG 1/144 kit is much better if compared to the bigger 1/100 kit. Probably you are well aware that Bandai always make HG 1/144 kits for any major Gundam anime/OVA/movie and this is because Bandai knew that this small HG 1/144 kits is indeed and important sector of their GunPla division.
Some say it's just for beginner and some say it's good for modification stuff and some say it's cheaper to make them as your collections but actually no matter what is the reason preferred by you... HG 1/144 kits is indeed an important segment and Bandai do care about it so much and that is also why recently we can see many of those HG 1/144 kits from UC timeline (they call it HGUC) are indeed much better (in terms of articulations and fun factor) if compared to some of their 1/100 counterparts...
But then again, I'm not saying that those 1/100 kit and the more detailed 1/100 MG kits are lousy... they are basically in different classes... they have their own strength and weaknesses - positive and negative...bla bla bla...
Nonetheless the major selling point for this kit - at least in my opinion - are nothing more but the bigger size and of coz that wonderful LED lights and lastly maybe you can add the 2 beam saber part...
Anybody want to swap this with any Zeon model that you have?
