Ladies and gentlemen... Shewsbury Land and Hiiragi Tsukasa proudly present the intimidating MS-18E Kaempfer.
By the way if you gonna read the rest of the review, there are 80 photos in total...
Tsukasa: "Konnichiwa minasan... kochi wa watashino HGUC MS-18E Kaempfer des..."
Tsukasa: "Ni ra me ki shi ma sho pu pui"
Tsukasa: "Errrrr.... ano... ano... errr"
Tsukasa: "Gomenasai minasan... jotto mate ne..."
SOME 30 MINUTES LATER....
Tsukasa: "Yosh..."
Tsukasa: "Ni ra me ki shi ma sho pu pui"
Tsukasa: Hora... Kaemfer des...
Well, never mind all the above... now let's get down to business...
This is the above mentioned MS-18E Kaempfer, a fast assault MS unit of Zeon which appear in the anime "MS Gundam 0080 - War In the Pocket" in the last days of the One Year War.
Although this is a very fast and maneuverable MS, the Zeon R&D team sacrificed armor protection in exchange for many thrusters and verniers to make it possible to achieve such speed and agility.
Using the so-called "hit-and-run" concept, this Kaempfer is a very powerful and deadly MS but its speed and high number of thrusters resulted in high fuel consumption and a limited operational time. However, even with all those minor drawback, the Kaempfer was an excellent mobile suit.
Too bad for Zeon that in terms of timing this is quite late as the One Year War came to an end and this MS never saw mass production process.
Let's have a look at the body...
For just a HGUC kit, the details is excellent... all the praise to Bandai for making this happen...
Those thrusters... many of them...
I've never seen so many in other models...
Articulation wise... for it's own unique design, this kit is absolutely brilliant...
Side kick... no problem...
Front kick... no problem...
Back kick... never an issue... basically standing on 1 leg is never a problem...
With all the weapons and armaments;
- 2 units of of 60mm vulcan gun, fire-linked, mounted in head
- 2 units of beam saber, stored in recharge racks in hip armor
- 2 units of ZUX-197 Jagdgewehr shotgun hand-carried in use, pump-action magazine and breech, 9 round magazine, can be stored on backpack storage racks
- 2 units of 360mm giant bazooka, clip-fed, 5 rounds per clip, can be stored on backpack storage racks
- 2 units of panzer faust, rocket-propelled warhead, can be stored in racks on legs
- And lastly a chain mine
Amazing isn't it? that a load of weapons for a single MS...
Some action pose with the all the weapons....
You can actually change the looks of this weapon by using the optional part... I think this is what they mean with the magazine stuff... Sorry I don't know much about guns...
This how the Kaempfer fly around in high speed inside the Colony 6... well something like this, maybe a little lower and straight flat...
The twin 360mm bazooka...
Chain mine... must dreadful to face this Kaempfer with that "chain mine" thing...
Panzer faust... it's a war head actually... not really for posing like this;
Lastly the 2 beam saber...

My beloved Zeon's blue HGUC kits...
I've been craving for this Kaempfer since April maybe... actually I wanted the MG 1/100 kit (made in 2002) but one of my friend told me that the articulation is not as great as this HGUC version made in 2008 and thus he recommended me to get this HGUC kit instead and I am so glad to follow his advise.
Having said that I still don't know much about the MG 1/100 kit... so if you already have the MG 1/100 Kaempfer, maybe you can share with us your opinion about the articulation of that model. Details wise I am sure that MG is typical MG, no question on that if compared to this more simple HGUC kit...
Nonetheless, this HGUC 1/144 Kaempfer is indeed a cute MS and extremely fun to play with. All those weapons justify the price 1,800 yen (about SGD 28.00) and the nice articulation is an added bonus.
We in Shewsbury Land are very happy with it and give 10 out 10 rating for this Kaempfer and we highly recommended you to get it.
I am sure that you can get it from the local store (or maybe order it in advance so they can get the stock next time) and other than that, you can also buy from your favorite online stores.
For your GunPla needs, Shewsbury Land recommends 2 online shops direct from Japan; Hobby Link Japan and Hobby Search.
