S.I.C. Kiwami Tamashii Kamen Rider Ryuki (Masked Rider Ryuki)

This is the review of S.I.C. Kiwami Tamashii Kamen Rider Ryuki (Masked Rider Ryuki) from the Japanese tokusatsu television series - Kamen Rider Ryuki (仮面ライダー龍騎, Kamen Raidā Ryūki / Masked Rider Ryuki).

For 1,200 yen (about SGD 19.00 before adding shipment charges) this is quite cheap for a decently detailed action figure with good articulation and pivots points.

Frankly speaking, I never watch any of the Kamen Rider Ryuki TV series before and I happen to learn about this figure from the Nintendo DS Lite game, Kamen Rider Dragon Knight. I enjoy the game pretty much but I wish I can get a cheat so that I always win and cannot die in that game but so far I couldn't find any cheat for it. Anybody know from where I can get the Nintendo DS Lite cheat for that particular game?

Nonetheless, let's have a look at this exciting action figure...

By the way, since this is the first SIC Kiwami Tamashii item we reviewed here in Shewsbury Land, we uploaded plenty of extra photos (over 60 of them) on this post to highlight all the capabilities of this item... so I hope your computer and internet connection can handle it....

The box...

Out of the box...

Not much stuff given (remember the price is 1,200 yen)...

You will get the figure...

- 2 extra hands, 1 holding some sort of card and the other 1 is for holding the sword later (Drag Saber)
- The Drag Saber, Dragredder's broadsword-like tail.
- The Drag Claw, a dragon-headed gauntlet on his right hand to shoot a burst of flames assisted by Dragredder

Another armaments of Kamen Rider Ryuki is the Drag Visor, Ryuki's Card Reader attached (permanently) on his left arm.

For 1,200 yen action figure, the details is quite decent.... we are quite happy with it...

The Drag Visor.... this is where he always put his Advent Cards....

The Drag Claw

The Drag Saber

Articulation is pretty good... we've done several testing for you to see...

The knee joint...

Simple articulation at the ankle...

Movement range in the shoulder, arm and elbow...

OK, finally now some action pose... although this action figure have decent articulation but it must be noted also that there are limits on them... you cannot expect the articulation level of SH Figuarts or Figma.... but then again 1,200 yen...

The Draw Claw should always be on his right arm/hand when he do 1 of his final attack, I think the name is "Strike Advent" (correct me if I'm wrong), but on this review, I purposely just attached it on the left arm/hand....

The mouth of that Drag Claw have some articulation as well...

Size comparison with SH Figuarts Shocker Rider (the pervert Rider)

Size comparison with Figma Tsukasa and again SH Figuarts Shocker Rider (the pervert Rider)

This SIC Kiwami action figure is basically more or less almost the same size with the 4 inch Star Wars action figures from Hasbro but despite the mini size it shares the same high level of attention to detail that we've come to expect from Bandai's S.I.C.-brand offerings sculpted by Kenji Ando.

Overall this SIC Kiwami Kamen Rider Ryuki action figure is a brilliant figure and surely a great value for money. I personally love this action figure very much, the details, the weapons and accessories, the articulation - everything is just brilliant for such a cheap price of 1,200 yen. I hope Bandai will produce more Kamen Riders from the Showa era and also the current Hesei era in this SIC Kiwami action figures line up as I would love to collect plenty of them.

You can get this item from HLJ or alternately you can also get it from the local hobby/toys shop near you. You might also like to grab his partner, Kamen Rider Knight.

  1. Cool review. Tells the reader everything they need to know, especially with the size comparisons.

The problem with the KT figures is that they're just a bit too tall to fit in with 3.75" figures such as G.I. Joes, although you could pretend they're 7 footers.

But then again, newer figures such as the Ironman 2 toys scale perfectly with them.

  3. Insidemytoybox, I actually like Kamen Rider especially the classic Kamen Rider... but I don't really fancy the modern Kamen Riders coz some of their form/face is like monster - kind of scary if not ugly and the hero are mostly "pretty boys" - they have less charisma as a man (just my opinion)... maybe becoz I'm an old man and thus I only like the classic :-)

Apart from that, I'm a big fan of articulated action figures...

Stay tuned, a few more Kamen Rider will arrive soon in the final week of June and/or early week of July 2010.

  4. The Drag Shield is actually a piece of armor that looks like Dragedder's belly, the one you pointed as the Drag Shield there is called the Drag Visor, Ryuki's Card Reader.
