John Ward
Went to do a funeral coverage yesterday for my good friend's father, a sad day for the family and also for Shewsbury Land but God's will be done.
The late Mr. John Ward was a good man with flaws like everyone else but he will be remembered by many as a humble servant of the Lord, a loving husband, a wonderful father, a brilliant grandfather and great grandfather, a marvelous friend, a friendly and kind man.
To be fair, I didn't know him for long, just met him since a few years back but I like this old man from the very first time I met him, it's easy for me to simply like him, he is friendly and he listen to some of my jokes and laugh happily, he also like my spicy chicken curry. I don't really have any other family members in here but for me the Ward family is like a family of the Shewsbury.
Not much for me to say anymore, God's will be done, let it be and we shall move on and remember him always.
I would like to dedicate this poem by David Harkins to the family and relatives of the late Mr. John Ward;
"You can shed tears that he is gone,
Or you can smile because he lived,
You can close your eyes and pray that he will come back,
Or you can open your eyes and see all that he has left.
Your heart can be empty because you can't see him
Or you can be full of the love that you shared,
You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday,
Or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday.
You can remember him and only that he is gone
Or you can cherish his memory and let it live on,
You can cry and close your mind be empty and
turn your back,
Or you can do what he would want:
smile, open your eyes, love and go on..."
Some of the photos from the event yesterday... it's been a while since I shed tears (apart from being in pain) but this yesterday I guess no matter how I tried to be cool... I failed... and I can feel the tears on my eyes but I still have to continue recording this special event with my camera.
The portrait of Mr. John Ward;
Early morning, we were at the morgue....
The coffin come and they do some minor preparation...
And after a while, they transfer the body to the coffin....
The priest (or rather Bishop Cornelius Shim) then doing the prayer and blessings....
Right after that we went to the church...
Immediately after arriving in the church, the priest do another prayer and blessings...
And now, everything is done, we just wait for all the people to come to the church, this is around 10.00 am like that...
They still manage to put some sweet smile to lighten up a bit...
People slowly coming to the church for the "funeral mass" and also to pay their last respect....
At 1.30pm the mass started....
Once the mass is done and people give their last respect, the coffin is now ready for the final destination.... the cemetery...
