The Amazing Spider-Man: Spider-Man and Lizard

Link

This is "Spider-Man" and "Lizard" action figure from "The Amazing Spider-Man" movie from Columbia Pictures (or rather Sony Pictures Entertainment). These action figure toys is produced by the marvelous Hasbro, the same company who produced toys products from many box-office hit Hollywood movies like The Avengers movie series, G.I. Joe, Star Wars dynasty etc.

Frankly speaking, I don't know much about the American super heroes characters. I do know a bit of this and that and just like many other people, I did watched them on TV in their cartoon and movie form and for as long as I can remember, they have been around ever since I'm still just a little boy who don't know much about sex yet.

Spider-Man is created by writer-editor Stan Lee and writer-artist Steve Ditko, he first appeared in their comic series way back in the early 1960's.

Spider-Man's creators gave him super strength and agility, the ability to cling to most surfaces, shoot spider-webs using devices of his own invention which he called "web-shooters", and react to danger quickly with his "spider-sense", enabling him to combat his foes.

Spider-Man is one of the most popular and commercially successful superheroes. As Marvel's flagship character and company mascot, he has appeared in many forms of media, including several animated and live-action television shows, syndicated newspaper comic strips, and a series of films starring Tobey Maguire as the "friendly neighborhood" hero in the first three movies. Andrew Garfield has taken over the role of Spider-Man in a reboot of the films. Reeve Carney stars as Spider-Man in the 2010 Broadway musical Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark. Spider-Man placed 3rd on IGN's Top 100 Comic Book Heroes of All Time in 2011.

And guess what? To be honest, I haven't watch any of the 3 Spiderman movies of Tobey Maguire era and the recent movie reboot with Andrew Garfield as the new leading man is apparently the first Spider-Man related movie or series I've ever watched for quite a long time now and so far I like what I see.... which makes me feel "it's OK to just skip the previous 3 modern era Tobey Maguire Spider-Man movies"... That should answer why we never reviewed any Spider-Man related action figure or toys in Shewsbury Land before today.

So, for now, let's review these 2 brilliant action figures from "Marvelous" Hasbro ^__^

The packaging;

First thing first, we will focus on the Spider-Man;

A little bit of close up look on the sculpt and detailing work on this figure;

As you can see from several pictures above, I believe you would agree that for this 4 inches figure, the sculpt and detailing is pretty fantastic. Painting job finishing can be subjective and verdict can be random either because this is mass-produce item and sometimes minor error or inconsistency can happen but overall there are quite decent and for this particular unit that we reviewed here, I would say the painting finishing is brilliant.

They are 3 version of Spider-Man action figures toys at this 4 inches scale produced by Hasbro namely the "Comic Series", "Concept Series" and "Movie Series" - well, that's all that I can see available from the local toys shop in here, if I happen to miss anything, then maybe I'm wrong but oh well, what ever LOL. Basically, from each series, they offer several variations or forms of Spider-Man as well as the villain characters. Almost all of them, except for this Spider-Man from the "Movie Series" comes with those crappy weapons stuff as an extra value for your money but most of the times I couldn't be bothered with it at all.

When you look at the picture of the packaging of this particular Spider-Man figure, you will noted about the wordings that says; "over 20 points of articulation" and this is one of the main reason why I happen to choose this version from the "Movie Series". The second reason is that I wanted to get the variation that is kind of close to the one I've seen on the movie... duhhh!!!!

Therefore, articulation is not a problem for this particular version or variation. This figure have articulation points on the head/neck, shoulder, elbow, wrist, hip/pelvic joint, knee and elbow.... that is extremely fantastic!!!!!

With the risk that I may be overly exaggerating but in my opinion, the articulation level is at the same level of that "Figma" - some action figures toys series produced by Max Factory of Japan, not to forget the "Revoltech" figure seires by Kaiyodo of Japan.

The usual kneeling pose is never a problem for this Spider-Man;

And just to show some of it's articulation abilities, enjoy the pictures below;

And the "TDKR/DC/Mattel" poor articulation action figures bashing by the Hasbro figures in Shewsbury Land continues;

OK, let's do some real action pose;

Extremely poseable, extremely playable, extremely fun... matched the super strength and agility of the real Spider-Man LOL....

Overall, Hasbro/Marvel alliance has been extremely fruitful in the the last few years and the "heavy rain" of action figures and toys from Hollywood movies invading shelves in toys and hobby shops around the globe continues while the relevant stake holders enjoys lot's of profits and collectors continues spending their money to expand their collections on daily, weekly or monthly basis - at the end everybody happy, it's all about business, profit, money and satisfaction which promise happiness.

This action figure of Spider-Man have brilliant painting job, sculpt, detailing (for a 4 inches scale figures) and more importantly it has extremely great playability value due to it's extremely fantastic articulation. I fell in love with this Spider-Man action figure and without shame I dare to say that it is one of the best articulated 4 inches action figures I have ever bought from Hasbro.

Well done to Hasbro, this is really a brilliant but fantastic action figures and if compared to those action figures of Batman from Mattel, the differences is like heaven and earth or rather heaven and hell LOL....

If Hasbro can continue to produce action figures with great quality and articulation like this one, I will continue to buy more from Hasbro, no doubt about it!!!!

And now, let's look at this Lizard or rather "The Lizard" though I personally prefers to call him "Dr. Lizard" or "Lizard Man" instead LOL....

A little bit of close up look on The Lizard;

Painting finishing is again very good (for a mass produce item) while the sculpt and detailing quality is decently good. Articulation however is not great but rather just at "above average" level which probably due to the overall character body design of The Lizard;

No usual kneeling pose but we try to do some other stuff to show the articulation ability of this Lizard;

OK, obviously not much we can do but I'm quite satisfy with it, this is still better than those Batman action figure from TDKR movie by Mattel.

Some "friendly" pose by both The Lizard and Spider-Man LOL;

Now it's time for us to do some sort of serious battle scene LOL;

Frankly speaking, I do had lots of fun with these 2 action figures;

The Lizard comes with this crappy "Raptile Blast Lizard" weapon thingy what ever that means but eventually I don't bother with it, straight to rubbish bin, I throw them away;

Overall, the painting finishing, detailing and sculpt for "The Lizard" is very good and even though the articulation is just at "above average" but somehow we can still do a little bit of pose and we can still enjoy playing with this figure.

Each of these figures available from many local toys and hobby retailers as well as from some big supermarket and departmental store at "standard Hasbro 4 inches toys price" of SGD 20.00 (about USD 15.80 / EUR 13.20 / 1,300 Yen).

As a tribute to Stan Lee and Steve Ditko (the creators of Spider-Man) for creating Spider-Man character and of course also as a tribute to Hasbro for producing such a great action figure toys, I would like to dedicated this song to them all.... enjoy the video;

One Million performed by sexy Romanian pop artist "Alexandra Stan" and German rappers" Carlprit";

She is extremely hot!!!!! doesn't she? I knew you would like to hug her so badly ^__^ I would love to licked her and give her all I had till the last drop of my sperm..... slurrrpppp!!!!

  2. Aya, you are right about that "rock" signature finger gesture of Spider-Man, I forgot about that as I'm totally amazed with the articulation... you are correct, the rest from "Comic Series" and "Concept Series" line have that "rock" signature finger gesture of Spider-Man, kind of annoying LOL... I prefer this one coz the hands/fingers looks more natural and universal...

  4. the only redeeming thing in this post is the video... HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA... just kidding, don’t be mad at me =P... uhmmmm but Alexandra is extremely beautiful (and you’re extremely lustful =PPPPP)...

    now coming back to our business, these 3"3/4 figures by Hasbro set a new standard for the action figures, with great sculpt, details, paint job and articulation, i totally agree with that (except for the excessive flattery LOL)... anyway, Hasbro has to honor the great legacy of Toy Biz and i think they do... fantastic figures, many 6"/7" figures would like to look this good and they cannot !!! =)

  5. This Amazing Spiderman figure sure has awesome articulation. You mmight be right to call it close to Figma or Revoltech. Somehow, this Spiderman figure seems to have a blur look. Hee! Hee! Can't really comment on Dr Lizard figure and I don't blame the figure cos I personally think the whole design concept of this villain is terrible from the start and likely the factor contributing to a least perfect movie.
