Tomica - Lamborghini Reventon

This is a die cast scale model of Lamborghini Reventon produced by Tomica of Takara Tomy.

According to Wikipedia;

The Lamborghini Reventón is a mid-engine sports car that debuted at the 2007 Frankfurt Motor Show. It was the most expensive Lamborghini road car until the Lamborghini Veneno was launched, costing two million dollars ( around €1.5 million / £840,000). 

Its top speed was recorded in Dubai, UAE at 221 miles per hour (355.7 km/h). The official press release stated that only 20 vehicles would be sold to the public with one additional car (marked as 0/20) produced for the Lamborghini Museum. Although early rumors indicated the total number would actually be 100, each Reventón is stamped with its number in the sequence of 20 between the driver's and passenger's seats.

Despite the exterior being new, almost all the mechanical elements (including the engine) are sourced directly from the Murciélago LP640.

Nonetheless, let's have a look at this scale model;

The casting quality is very good while the painting finishing is equally good as well considering the fact that Tomica must make it look good to deserved that Lamborghini sticker label at the box. Exterior detailing is not much since this is suppose to be "cheap and affordable" die cast scale model for everybody and thus not much effort needed on that department thus Tomica only need to focus more on the casting and the painting finishing quality. However, we still get the decent tiny Lamborghini logo at the front of the car and the front/head lights was done neatly despite Tomica just using their usual marker pen on that part. At least it looks good if compared to not so proper decals used by Hot Wheels.

For comparison purpose, look at the one below from Hot Wheels, focus on the front/head lights, it's good that they use decals on that particular part but if you really look at them closely and carefully you can sense that they don't look equally interesting. Viewing the car from the front, the one on the left is much better than the one on the right. Then again as I mentioned in my review of that Lamborghini Aventador from Hot Wheels, most of the typical Hot Wheels collectors don't really mind about it, they can live with that.

It's quite difficult thru camera lens but with the naked eyes it is much easier to see the engine parts detailing on the rear top - both Hot Wheels and Tomica scores equally on this part;

Since this is the "regular series" in Tomica world, the wheels design is typically boring and uninteresting, Hot Wheels always did a better job when it comes to the wheels design, no doubt about it.

Overall, this is a very good representation of Lamborghini Reventon from Tomica of Takara Tomy. The casting and painting finishing quality is very good while the exterior detailing remain on the minimalist approached in order to keep the cost down and sustainable profit for the producer. The wheels design is typical (boring and uninteresting) from Tomica for this price point my only complain is why the heck they made this in 1/65 scale instead of 1/64 scale.
