Banpresto SCM Ex: Char Custom Zaku II
This is the long awaited Gundam Special Creative Model EX: Char Custom Zaku II from Banpresto.
Booked this item some time in late July or early August 2009 and collected from the post office last Saturday - 24 October 2009.
I order both the Model A (Char's Zaku II) and Model B (RX-78-2 Gundam)
The box and packaging method is so nice... we really love it...
The boxes for both models have the same graphic layouts...
Out of the box...
You will get the Char's Zaku II...
And the heat hawk (axe), machine gun, bazooka and 4 optional hands - though only 3 in the photo below... one of them is somewhere on the floor, I'm lazy to pick it up...
Let's see the body...
For such a cheap price, Banpresto never fail to give some decent details here and there...
One of my complains... lousy painting job on the hand...
You can mount the bazooka at the back...
The joint system is really an old fashion style but who cares... this is cheap and it works very well...
The knee joint is quite sturdy...
Banpresto also give nice details on the foot/shoes...
Another complain from me... this skirt...
To allow articulation, Banpresto designer decided to use the soft materials for the skirt... in a way this is quite economical and such an easy way to make this happen... what I don't like about this kind of material is after a while you can see some sort of"scar" or "marks" on the folded area. Then again, if you just put this item inside the box or just display them with standing post on your cabinet and play with it once a while only, it should be OK.
Now the most important thing for us in Shewsbury Land, articulation... this is in fact the main reason why we bought this item...
As you can see, on it's own accord, this item will never disappoint you if you want to do action pose... two thumbs up to Banpresto for making this happen...
Another complains from me... it's the same issue about using the soft materials...
Let's have a look at the weapons...
Again, pretty simple but nice details on the bazooka...
And the same fot the machine gun as well...
Even the heat hawk... it is not just a simple plain type... Banpresto did give some decent details on it...
3 out of the 4 optional hands...
Banpresto also use the soft type materials for the hands and fingers...
Standing post with all the weapons and armaments...
Let's see some actions...
Some outdoor photos...
I forgot to turn on my flash... but at the end... quite a nice unique photo...
Size comparison with other items... from Left to Right... Robot Tamashii 0 Gundam, SCM Ex Zaku II, MSIA Extended Gouf, MSIA Zudah II and lastly the GFF RX-78-2 Gundam.
Robot Tamashii O Gundam and this SCM Ex Zaku II
MSIA Zudah II and SCM Ex Zaku II and MSIA Extended Gouf
GFF RX-78-2 Gundam and SCM Ex Zaku II
SCM Ex Zaku II and HG 1/144 RX-78-2 Gundam Ver. G30th Shewsbury Custom
Another comparison with Revoltech Megatron and Figma Tsukasa Hiiragi Shewsbury Custom
For it's cheap price of 1,450 yen (about SGD 23.00) before shipment charges, we are very happy and satisfied with this new offering from Banpresto.
Of coz as always we have complains and wish for improvement here and they but at the end the bottom line of this product is it's cheap and it has decent articulation and Banpresto gives you the complete weapons sets (machine gun, bazooka and heat hawk) and I guess one should be satisfied with it.
With it's nice box/packaging style and decent articulations and detailing and despite some minor complains that we have on this model, without hesitation we give it 9 out 10 rating.
If you like Gundam/Zaku but lazy to assemble the HGUC 1/144 Plamo kits, then you can opt for this.
This is also a pretty nice toys for young kids and a decent item for collectors or Gundam fans.
Most of all, as Chrsitmas is near... this can be a nice Christmas gift to your family and/or fellow toy collectors friends alike.
I personally plan to get another 3 or 4 of this items as Christmas present for this year...
