Revoltech Masamune Date
This is Revoltech Masamune Date from the anime and video games of Sengoku Basara.
Just like the previous Revoltech item, Yukimura Sanada, this figurine is sculpted by Yamaguchi Katsuhisa and available at the same price of 2,286 yen (about SGD 35.00) before adding shipment charges.
"Dokugan Ryu" - One Eye Dragon is the nickname for Masamune Date as he lost his right eye in one of his previous battle. In my opinion, inside the anime Sengoku Basara, he is my favorite character because he is indeed a cool character in term of style, charisma and his weaponary... perhaps he is the only character that can speaks some English words in that anime. Yukimura Sanada is also the other main character in the anime but he is a bit more into the "comical relief" in the anime due to his idiotic and less matured appearance - especially when he is infront of his master - Takeda Shingen.
Due to time constrain, I will simplify the review of this Revoltech Masamune Date...
The box...
You will get all these stuff...
The figurine...
All the weapons and extra face and hands and of coz the Revoltech Box and the Revoltech Coin...
Let's look at the figurine...
The first batch issues will get the shiny "gold plated"....
The details on the figurine is quite tremendous though basically the clothing design is quite plain and simple...
This logo at the back remind me of the United Nations logo...
The hip articulation... similar to the Yukimura Sanada and Dante.
All the weapons... basically this "Dakugan Ryu" or "One Eyed Dragon" have six katana or swords... but in this Revoltech offering, they're quite generous and offer you extra swords... lovely, absolutely lovely....
This part is for you to put on the side of his waist...
Some action pose with all the weapons....
In anime they call this "The Claws" - basically Masamune Date grabbed all the katanas using his fingers strenght and use it all to attack the opponents... usually only for the high level opponents like Yukimura Sanada or Oda Nobunaga...
When you perform "The Claws" stance... be sure to take off all the katana's handle from the scabbard... just like this;
This is to make it looks like "real"
Another generousity of Revoltech on this item, they also give 2 pairs of katana (sword) that can be connected with each other to be something like this;
I remember Sword Impulse Gundam have similar type of sword...
And of coz when you buy this item you must also buy Yukimura Sanada so that you can recreate the battle scenes between the 2 of them....
Overall this Revoltech Masamune Date is indeed a wonderful ultra posable figure. It offers absolute great value for money as Revoltech (Kaiyodo) gave you 5 usable katana (sword) - 4 of them can be connected with each other and the other 1 is for single use plus that magnificent hands grabbing all 6 of the katanas to perform "The Claws"... incredible... absolutely incredible...
I have to admit though that this figure is not perfect either, I do have few complains about it like the the usual Revoltech "virus" where it can be a challenge sometimes to make the figure stand on its own foot without any support of the action base what so ever... you do need to some adjustment here and there for several times before you can finally make it stand firm.
Apart from that, I guess the other most important issue is the 6 katana on the waist... every action pose you do, yo do need to adjust it accordingly and sometimes in can be real pain in the ass....
Other than I think this item is excellent.... we are somehow still satisfy with the overall quality and details and most of all that many katana... it is all about great value for money.
