Maisto Custom Shop - 1966 Volkswagen Karmann Ghia

The Volkswagen Karmann Ghia is a 2+2 coupe and convertible marketed from 1955 to 1974 by Volkswagen – combining the chassis and mechanicals of the Type 1 (Beetle), styling by Luigi Segre of the Italian carrozzeria Ghia, and hand-built bodywork by German coach-builder Karmann.... now for that particular time in 1960's - that is awesomely cool!!! a combination of the original German icon (Beetle) with a little bit of additional spices from Italy and engineering touch from other German builder - and thus the name "Volkswagen Karmann Ghia".

I have no chance to get the real car and I can't afford it anyway but thanks to "Maisto Custom Shop" die cast car model series at 1/64 scale, I can grabbed this car for a mere SGD 7.00 (about USD 5.45 / 423 yen).

Stylish little blue stripes or something like that... I don't really fancy such thing actually and I guess this must be the idea from the designer of "Maisto Custom Shop" series.






Engine is at the rear and the engine hood is openable so you can see the "engine";

And you can see the "Karmann" and "Ghia" signature on the engine hood - and then again you can see how big is that gap in the middle... if this is a real car.... lot's of water will go into the engine parts during rain and washing time... sigh....

I like the white with a little bit of black interior color scheme and I don't want to do much changes on it apart from the top part of the dashboard which I prefer to be in black color. By just using the typical black marker pen, this is the result;








Overall, the car might not be as perfect as one would hope for but I think I'm happy with it and I think I will keep this one untouched in its typical Maisto factory color scheme. This is quite a beautiful car in terms of design and looks. I am happy to have it.
