Maisto Marvel Rhino - 1971 Plymouth HEMI Cuda

This is my first ever "Mopar car" - the 1971 Plymouth HEMI Cuda from "Maisto Marvel Spider-Sense" series. In this series, Maisto is trying to do something like those "itasha car" in Japan (and certain other countries in Asia) but they used the characters from Marvel instead and obviously there will be some royalty to paid to Marvel for this....

And without further delay, let's have a look at this item;


First, the packaging;






I am not a big fan of Spiderman series and I don't know or don't care who the heck is this Rhino but I just wanted the 1971 Plymouth HEMI Cuda;

The Plymouth Barracuda is a 2-door car that was manufactured by the Plymouth division of the Chrysler Corporation from 1964-1974.

The first-generation Barracuda, a fastback A-body coupe based on the Plymouth Valiant, had a distinctive wraparound back glass and was available from 1964-1966.

The second-generation 1967-1969 Barracuda, though still Valiant-based, was heavily redesigned. Second-generation A-body cars were available in fastback, notchback, and convertible versions.

The 1970-1974 E-body Barracuda, no longer Valiant-based, was available as a coupe and a convertible, both of which were very different from the previous models. 1974 was the final model year for the Barracuda.

And now, out of the packaging;














I think the car looks decent, not much details to highlight apart from the Rhino decals;






The front and break lights were not colored and no sticker as well.... all plain in black....

I personally believed that this car is actually at the same level of quality from the cheap "Maisto Fresh Metal series" at the retail price of SGD 2.50 (about USD 1.90 / 150 yen). However due to the "Marvel" logo and characters decals on this one, the price is now SGD 3.90 which in fact slightly higher than the typical "Hot Wheels" cars which at least have decent interior (at least it's better than none)

And just like those from "Maisto Fresh Metal" series, this one also use those "rivets" thingy just like those "Hot Wheels" cars;





With the "tinted glass", I believe that there is no interior on this car and to prove it, let's open up this car....

So using the tiny screw driver, we need to somehow try our best to dig some sort of hole around the rivets, this is pain in the arse and really time consuming (and of coz quite risky)






After about 10 minutes or so.... this is the result... quite ugly;







And now we can see the emptiness inside the car;





So it's time to put them back together;






Overall, not much to say anymore about this car... I want the "1971 Plymouth HEMI Cuda" at a cheap price and I got it. I don't expect any miracles or exciting gimmick what so ever, this is plain simple.

And for fun sake.... I decided to do some quickie painting job and change the color to this old school blue;
