Hot Wheels Garage - '63 Plymouth Belvedere 426 Max Wedge
To start this 2012, the first review of the year is this magnificent red car from Hot Wheels Garage series - the 1963 Plymouth Belvedere 426 Max Wedge.
Now I don't know much about this particular car but from what I read in Wikipedia, this model seems to be from the 3rd Generation series (1962-1963) or so I guess, I'm a bit confused as well as Wikipedia also mentioned that the 1964 Belvedere (and corresponding Fury hardtop coupes) featured a new "slant-back" roofline that proved to be popular, and sales improved significantly over '62 and '63.
The 1964 Belvedere is also notable for being the car used to introduce the 426 Chrysler Hemi engine, which used a canted large-valve arrangement. This was such a significant high-RPM breathing improvement that Hemi-equipped Plymouth Belvederes won 1st, 2nd, and 3rd at NASCAR's 1964 Daytona race.
This particular 1/64 scale car have that "426" number on it so is it possible that this is actually the 1964 model? Oh well, what ever, I'm not an expert but this car looks cool and I love it....
1 thing for sure, when I first look at this car, the red color mesmerized me and the design is quite cool and that should be enough to make me want it...

The packaging;
The price in here for this particular "Hot Wheels Garage" series is an ugly $10.90 (about USD 8.50 / 649 yen). When one can get those Maisto cars with openable engine hoods and all other great features, certainly this seems to be expensive - but then again, no choice for me, I want it, Maisto don't have it... so just grab it!!!!
Out of the packaging;
The painting and the finishing is quite brilliant - at least makes me feel a little happy after paying the price :-(
This car features brilliant detailing, decals and marking for a 1/64 scale car...
The Plymouth name on the front there;

The Plymouth name on the front there;
The "Belvedere" name in the side;
I don't know what logo or emblem is this, but it looks cool ^__^
Again the Plymouth name on the rear;
Unlike those standard priced Hot Wheels, models from this "Garage" series comes with rubber tires;
The interior is decently detailed with all red color scheme;
I don't really mind about the all red color scheme for the interior but I would prefer if the dashboard and steering wheel at least comes with black or dark color;
Overall, this is a fantastic red Plymouth Belvedere 426 Max Wedge (what ever that name means) from Hot Wheels. Although it's a bit pricey but at the end I'm quite happy with the great painting and finishing. The only other that thing I don't fancy so much is the all red interior color scheme but it is not that bad actually. As far a 1/64 scale die cast car model goes, this is certainly beautiful and I like it a lot - certainly this will not be customized at all and shall remain as it is originally.

ReplyDeleteby the way, no, the cost on this babe is not ugly or wrong and you already pointed out the differential features on this diecast to justify its price... why people still think that Hot Wheels always means a US$ 2 price tag ???... i think they should investigate a bit... XDDDDD
number 426 means the engine is 426 cubic inches!
