Casio G-Shock GA-100-1A1DR
Last week I was lucky and from this lucky draw even at one of the local car dealer, I got this SGD 150 shopping voucher (about USD 119 / EUR 90 ) and I decided to use the voucher to buy this Casio G-Shock watch - my first ever..... hehehehe
Apparently this watch is quite popular locally and the collectors (or regular customers) have this Facebook Group so usually the local Facebook people who own or love this brand would join the group - though I love Casio brand, I didn't join the group yet...
Last time I bought a pricey Casio watch (around USD 100 / EUR 75), the Edifice chronograph version:
It doesn't even come with box, according to the retailer, that's the way it is, but for this G-Shock, they do provide a decent box/packaging. Well maybe that price is no big deal to some of you but for a poor farmer like me, that is pretty pricey.
Out of the box, we will get all these;
So let's have a close look at the watch;
According to Casio, this are the techie specs;

The actual price of this watch is SGD 163.00 (about USD 129 / EUR 97) and after the 10% discount I got it for SGD 147 (about USD 116 / EUR 87).
Now I'm not a watch expert so all I can say to you is that my first impression, I like the look of the watch. It comes with analog feature though there is also the "traditional" digital time. I like the extreme ergonomics, it feels comfortable though not too big but still bigger than other G-Shock's at around almost the same price points.
It has this solid feel on the overall build quality while the injection molded
resin components have this nice finishing and looks pretty crisp. This watch comes with the World Time thingy and then you have the usual alarm thingy and the timer thingy and that split timing lap for what ever it is and also water resist up to 200 meter down under - I'm not a diver or a swimmer so that is not a big concern for me but it's good to know that it resist water nicely.
The back light is quite disappointing (at least for me), I expect better than this, the single L.E.D works well enough to see the hands in total
darkness.I guess it could have been better if Casio give it two L.E.D instead.
Side by side with my Casio Edifice, this G-Shock 1A1DR is pretty big:
With the rest of my inexpensive (but original) chronograph watch collections;
I think "Casio G-Shock GA-100-1A1DR" is a pretty nice watch considering it is my first ever G-Shock. It is not the best but not the worst in class for sure I think in the scale of 10, I can give it 8 out of 10 and that is simply because of the disappointing back light. As for any other thing, oh well, I am not a watch expert and surely not a Casio G-Shock product expert but in the future it's not impossible for me to grabbed more Casio G-Shock watches.
Overall, I'm quite happy coz at the end of the day, I got this watch for free!!!
end
i had a G-Shock long ago, it was quite more simple (and less expensive) than yours... it was my loyal "time oracle" until it simply stopped working, i thought it was a matter of batteries (the Casios are reliable watches in most of the cases) so, i changed them, but it didn’t worked anymore ;(((((... probably it was an electronic issue beyond the knowledge of the technician who tried to fix it... i didn’t use a watch since then =/////... i really hope yours will work pretty fine, it looks like a "warrior", quite sturdy, high-tech and it’s pricey so, it should last LOL !!! =)
